Apesar de parecer simples, a conservação dos produtos têxteis deve ser realizada segundo as regras enunciadas nas etiquetas presentes nas peças. Desta forma, é essencial realizar uma leitura correcta da etiqueta, para conservar as características das fibras e prolongar o seu tempo de vida. A existência das etiquetas nos produtos têxteis, é obrigatória por lei, e estas devem conter informações como a marca registada do fabricante ou importador, a indicação do tamanho (no caso das etiquetas presentes no vestuário), identificação fiscal, país onde foi confeccionado, a composição das fibras e a sua percentagem, e tratamento e cuidados relativos a conservação da peça. Mas, geralmente, com o passar do tempo a presença da etiqueta têxtil nas peças de vestuário, torna-se desnecessária, levando os utilizadores a corta-la. Esta necessidade de retirar a etiqueta têxtil deve-se ao incómodo que esta provoca, como também à deformação que pode provocar na respectiva peça de vestuário. Assim sendo, surgiu a ideia de desenvolver uma etiqueta que se degrade com as lavagens, através da utilização de materiais solúveis.All textile products need care for washing, drying and ironing. Thus, it is essential to have a correct reading of the label, to retain the characteristics of the fibers and extend its lifetime. The existence of the labels on textile products, is required by law, they shall contain such information as the trademark of the manufacturer or importer, indicating the size (in the case of the labels present on clothing), tax ID, the country where it was made, the fiber composition and their percentage, treatment and care of the conservation of the piece. But generally, over time the presence of the textile label on garments, it becomes unnecessary, leading users to cut it. This need to remove the textile label is due to the discomfort it causes, as well as the deformation that may result in its garment.
