A Comparison of Different Gas Turbine Engines Ground Vortex Flows 46th AIAA/ASME/SAE/ASEE Joint Propulsion Conference & Exhibit and 8th Annual International Energy Conversion Engineering Conference, Nashville, TN, EUA, 25-28 julho, 2010 DOI: 10.2514/6.2010-7116978-1-60086-958-7http://hdl.handle.net/10400.6/12212A computational method was used to predict and compare the ground vortices forming between the ground and a 1/1th scale model intake of different gas turbine engines. Calculations have been performed for the case of an irrotational crossflow mode of formation. Two different kinds of vortices appear around the intake: an inlet vortex and a trailing vortex. Away from the inlet plane other types of complex vortical structures were also identified. The computational method was found to describe all the main features of the flow for full scale geometry.engGas Turbine EnginesVortex StructureComputational MethodsEngine InletReynolds Averaged Navier StokesFlow PatternsMass Flow RateFree Stream VelocityMathematical ModelsSIMPLE AlgorithmA Comparison of Different Gas Turbine Engines Ground Vortex Flowsconference object10.2514/6.2010-7116
