Nas zonas rurais, marcadas por desafios estruturais e pela desertificação humana, o empreendedorismo social pode representar uma via de renovação e de esperança. No entanto, a sua concretização está condicionada por múltiplos fatores: o acesso a financiamento, o envolvimento comunitário e a capacidade de inovar perante necessidades emergentes. É neste contexto que surge o projeto “Agulhas Unidas” – ainda não implementado, mas sonhado e desenhado com base numa inspiração do projeto brasileiro “Nós do Crochê”, que alia tradição, empoderamento e impacto social. Ao descobrir esse projeto e ao mergulhar pessoalmente na prática do crochê, nasceu a vontade de trazer essa experiência para a realidade de Medelim, uma aldeia no concelho de Idanha-a-Nova, onde ainda hoje muitas mulheres se reúnem para fazer crochê, mantendo viva uma tradição silenciosa, mas poderosa. Este projeto visa, no futuro, oferecer um espaço de capacitação e de encontro comunitário através da arte do crochê, promovendo a inclusão social, o bem-estar emocional e a valorização do património imaterial local. Para além da criação de peças artesanais e da sua potencial comercialização, o projeto tem como ambição maior contribuir para o fortalecimento dos laços sociais e para a revitalização de uma comunidade que, como tantas outras, luta contra a invisibilidade e o abandono.Social entrepreneurship has been recognized as a key driver of economic development, especially in contexts where traditional market mechanisms are unable to respond adequately to the needs of the population, and can thus be a strategic way to drive sustainable and equitable change, especially in areas with greater socio-economic fragility. However, the success of social entrepreneurship in rural areas is strongly conditioned by various determining factors, such as access to funding, the degree of involvement of the local community and the ability to innovate in the face of obstacles and emerging needs. Social entrepreneurship is increasingly recognized as a key driver for sustainable development, especially in territories where traditional market mechanisms fail to address the needs of vulnerable populations. In rural areas, marked by structural challenges and demographic decline, social entrepreneurship can offer a path of renewal and hope. However, its success is often conditioned by various factores, including access to funding, community engagement, and the ability to innovate in the face of emerging needs. It is within the context that the “Agulhas Unidas” project was conceived – not yet implemented, but envisioned with deep inspiration from the Brazilian project “Nós do Crochê”, which beautifully combines tradition, empowerment and social impact. Upon discovering this initiative and through a personal and transformative journey int the practice of crochet, the idea to bring this experience to the Portuguese village of Medelim – located in the municipality of Idanha-a-Nova – began to take shape. Here, crochet still lives on quietly, kept alive by many women who gather to weave, create and connect. This project aims, in the future, to offer a space for skill-building and community gathering throught the art of crochet, promoting social inclusion, emotional well-being and the valuing of local cultural heritage.
