Teve ainda como objetivo identificar quais os fatores de risco e proteção, e as estratégias mais efetivas para a prevenção e o tratamento do burnout nos profissionais de saúde. Método: Realizou-se uma revisão sistemática da literatura (RSL), seguindo o protocolo princípios do PRISMA, de forma a documentar e orientar o seguimento do processo. A pesquisa bibliográfica, executada a partir das bases de dados Scielo e PubMed, visou procurar artigos que relacionassem as três variáveis em estudo, a COVID-19, os Profissionais de Saúde e o Burnout, publicados entre 2020 e 2021 e que cumprissem ainda os seguintes critérios de exclusão: estudos que não incluam como participantes os profissionais de saúde; que não apresentem resumo/abstract; duplicados; idioma que não seja português, inglês ou espanhol; em que a tipologia do estudo consista numa revisão sistemática da literatura e/ou meta-análise; artigos científicos que não apresentem pelo menos duas palavras-chave e/ou sinónimos no título; dissertações, teses, livros ou capítulos de livros disponíveis nas bases de dados em formato digital. Resultados: Após a pesquisa e análise dos artigos, foram incluídos um total de 8 estudos. Verificou-se uma alta prevalência de burnout nos profissionais de saúde, evidenciado por sintomas de ansiedade, stress e depressão na amostra, sendo que estes resultados confirmaram que a pandemia teve um grande peso no desgaste físico e psicológico destes profissionais. Conclusão: Apesar de o burnout ser já uma realidade assente na vida dos profissionais de saúde, a crise mundial da pandemia COVID-19 acarretou novos e maiores riscos ao seu desenvolvimento. A consciencialização destes riscos deve motivar a procura de apoio, tendo como objetivo a prevenção do mesmo.Objective: The main objective of the present study was to systematize the results and conclusions of a set of scientific studies that analyze the relation between burnout in health professionals and COVID-19 pandemic. It also aimed to identify the risk and protection factors, and the most effective strategies for the prevention and treatment of burnout in health professionals. Method: A Systematic Literature Review (SLR) was carried out, following the PRISMA protocol, in order to document and guide the follow-up of the process. The bibliographic research, conducted on Scielo and PubMed databases, aimed to find articles that related the three variables under study, COVID-19, Health Professionals and Burnout, published between 2020 and 2021, and that fulfilled the following exclusion criteria: studies that don’t include health professionals as participants; that don’t present a summary/abstract; duplicates; language other than portuguese, english or spanish; in which the study typology consists of a systematic literature review and/or meta-analysis; scientific articles that don’t have at least two keywords and/or synonyms in the title; dissertations, theses, books or book chapters available in the databases in digital format. Results: After researching and analyzing the articles, a total of 8 studies were included. There was a high prevalence of burnout in health professionals, evidenced by symptoms of anxiety, stress and depression in the sample, being that these results confirmed that the pandemic had a great weight on the physical and psychological exhaustion of health professionals. Conclusions: Although burnout is already a reality in the lives of health professionals, the worldwide crisis of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought new and greater risks to its development.
