Durante muitos anos foi o principal contributo para o desenvolvimento económico da região. Infelizmente, devido a diversos motivos, quase toda esta indústria acabou por fechar portas, deixando assim um legado de edifícios ao abandono. Consequentemente, a ausência de medidas projectuais de intervenção urbana, quer seja na componente edificada, quer na componente natural, leva a que todo este património edificado fique degradado, dando uma imagem de negligência da área perante o resto da cidade. Existem inúmeros imóveis que necessitam de reabilitação urgente, sujeitos a derrocadas iminentes, perdendo-se assim o pouco que se pode salvaguardar de um património de enorme e interessante qualidade. A Fábrica das Cruzes é a escolha de apenas uma parcela ínfima do potencial turístico, desportivo e de lazer que o vale pode oferecer com a sua reconstrução, sendo do interesse de todos os cidadãos. Este estudo pretende ser uma contribuição relevante, através da reabilitação do complexo fabril Fábrica das Cruzes, situado na ribeira da Carpinteira, na Covilhã, com o intuito de favorecer a revitalização e dinamização desta zona inerte da cidade, através da criação de uma zona de lazer e desportiva que apoie o desenvolvimento do vale. O objetivo do projeto é definir medidas projetuais de intervenção, de modo a revigorar a estrutura edificada, contribuir para a integração e valorização desta zona ribeirinha, devolvendo-a à cidade e qualificando a sua imagem urbana. Procura-se colmatar as fragilidades e exponenciar as potencialidades do local, podendo servir de auxílio para futuras intervenções.The city of Covilhã has an extensive industrial heritage related to woolen goods. For many years it was the main contributor to the region's economic development. Unfortunately, for various reasons, almost the entire industry ended up closing its doors, thus leaving a legacy of abandoned buildings. Consequently, the absence of design measures for urban intervention, whether in the built component or in the natural component, leads to all this built heritage being degraded, giving an image of neglect of the area in relation to the rest of the city. There are numerous properties in need of urgent rehabilitation, subject to imminent collapse, thus losing what little one can safeguard of a heritage of enormous and interesting quality. Fábrica das Cruzes is the choice of only a tiny portion of the tourist, sport and leisure potential that the valley can offer with its reconstruction, being of interest to all citizens. This study intends to be a relevant contribution, through the rehabilitation of the Fábrica das Cruzes industrial complex, located on the Carpinteira river, in Covilhã, in order to favor the revitalization and dynamization of this inert area of the city, through the creation of a leisure area and sports that support the development of the valley. The aim of the project is to define intervention design measures, in order to reinvigorate the built structure, contribute to the integration and enhancement of this riverside area, returning it to the city and enhancing its urban image.
