Este trabalho tem como ponto de partida a identificação da problemática do despovoamento de aglomerados habitacionais no interior em particular na aldeia de Foros de Arrão (Alto Alentejo, Portugal), recorrendo a dados obtidos por via dos Censos (2011). Foi necessária uma metodologia baseada na observação participativa dos espaços desta aldeia para melhor se compreender estes dados e também quais as reais consequências provocadas por esta alteração demográfica. No âmbito desta observação, foram definidos percursos de análise, nos quais foi bastante percetível o estado de abandono em que se encontra este território. Com base nesta observação, desde cedo se percebeu que existe a necessidade de intervir de modo critico e sustentável. A arte enquanto campo de actividade humana oferece diferentes oportunidades tanto individuais como colectivas. A possibilidade de se trabalhar a arte em rede pode apoiar contextos, gerar dinâmicas, contribuir para alterações migratórias e favorecer o estabelecimento de pessoas, mesmo que temporariamente, em zonas suscetíveis de despovoamento. O presente trabalho aparece nos cruzamentos e nas dinâmicas que se podem gerar entre a arte e os seus contextos. Pretende-se assim compreender como a arte pode contribuir como elemento regenerador em espaços com estas características, e, por sua vez, como as características urbanas existentes podem potenciar a prática da produção de arte e a residência de artistas.The main purpose of this dissertation is to propose a space for temporary residences to accommodate artists from different areas and to allow the production of art in general. This work has its starting point in the identification of the population of housing clusters in the interior, particularly in the village of Foros de Arrão (Alentejo), by using data obtained through the Census (2011). To better understand these data and also what are the real consequences caused by this demographic variation, a methodology based on the participatory observation of the spaces in this village was necessary. Within the scope of this observation, analysis paths were defined to better comprehend the state of abandonment in which this territory can be found. Based on the observation, it has been understood early in the process that there is the need to intervene in a critical and sustainable way. Art as a field of human activity offers different opportunities, both individual and collective. The possibility of working with networked art can support contexts, generate dynamics, contribute to migratory changes and favor the establishment of people, even if temporarily, in areas affected by depopulation. The present work follows the crossings and dynamics that can be generated between art and its contexts.
