The objective is to gain some knowledge about the characteristics of the local flow in order to indentify problematic areas that could be avoided allowing operations in weather conditions that are currently off limits due to the lack of information on phenomena related to the influence of mountains terrain in the flow. To do this, a statistical study of the wind data collected at Pico and Faial Island was carried out to find discrepancies that can be attributed to the influence that Pico Mountain has in the flow. Then, a wind tunnel visualization of the flow around the Island was conducted, the results were compared to the data collected before and to visual clues of the flow observed at the Island, in order to identify some of the characteristics of the flow, most of them know to be common in mountainous areas, under different wind directions at the airport site. With this data, some assumptions of the best runway to use and where the most problematic phenomena should be encountered in the approach areas were made.porAeronáuticaIlha do Pico - Aeroporto - AçoresEscoamento do ar em torno da Ilha do Pico e a operacionalidade do seu aeroportomaster thesis
