Abstract(s)
realizados.
Introduction: Shoulder Impingement Syndrome is one of the main causes for seeking health care services, as it causes functional and psychosocial incapacity, which can result in an increase in sick leaves. Analyze the relationship between the treatment compliance and the need for sick leave with mental health and the impact of this pathology on daily life activities are the aims of this study. Materials and methods: 70 patients with Shoulder Impingement Syndrome have participated in this study. Ages between 20 and 65 years old. A questionnaire on mental health, functionality, pain and treatment compliance was administered by telephone call. The collected data was analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, considering a significance level of 0,05. Results: Relationships were found between the functionality score and the treatment compliance (p 0,004) and between the functionality score, mental health and pain and sick leave (p 0,008; p 0,000; p 0,000). A weak correlation (CC 0,135; p 0,267) and very weak correlation (CC 0,189; p 0,118) were found between functionality and pain with mental health, respectively. Conclusions: Patients who did not adhere to the treatment showed greater disability. The group that required sick leave showed greater functional disability and pain, as well as worse levels of mental health. These results are consistent with studies already carried out
