With the adoption of increasingly efficient and modern technologies, agriculture generally improves its competitiveness and production sustainability. The intensive use of ICTE in this sector aims to create integrated solutions that generate effective gains in productivity, sustainability and economic, social and environmental quality. In this paper is proposed an ICTE-based cattle or horse monitoring system, developed as a belt containing a microcontroller device used to assess the animal's heart rate and detect abnormal mobility. Correct assessment of these two parameters is very useful for detecting many of the pathologies and anomalies that constitute economic losses for producers. With precise monitoring, it is possible to minimize these events detrimental to animal production.

The intensive use of ICTE in this sector has been aimed at creating integrated solutions that generate efficiency gains in productivity, sustainability and economic, social and environmental quality. This type of technologies, when aimed at monitoring livestock, have some characteristics in common. Precise positioning and geolocation from GPS, geographic mapping, sensors and communication systems are some of the tools that will allow the development of a complete and extremely accurate system for monitoring vital signs. This proposal for a cattle or equine ICTE-based monitoring system is developed as a belt. It contains a microcontroller that is used to evaluate the animal's heart rate and detect abnormal mobility. The correct evaluation of these two parameters proves very useful for the detection of many of the pathologies and anomalies that constitute economic losses for the producers. With accurate monitoring, it is possible to circumvent these events that are detrimental to animal production.

Reigones, Ana Rita Runa da Silva; Gaspar, Pedro Dinis; Garcia, Nuno M.A aposta na aplicação das tecnologias da informação e comunicação & eletrónica (TICE) na agropecuária tem seguido um compasso muito rápido e muito diversificado. Com a adoção de tecnologias cada vez mais eficientes e modernas, a agricultura no geral melhora a sua competitividade e a produção é realizada de forma mais sustentável. O uso intensivo das TICE neste setor tem visado a criação de soluções integradas que originem ganhos efetivos em produtividade, sustentabilidade e qualidade económica, social e ambiental. As TICE dirigidas à monitorização de gado apresentam algumas características comuns. O posicionamento preciso e geolocalização a partir do GPS, o mapeamento geográfico, os sensores e os sistemas de comunicação constituem um sistema completo e de extrema precisão no que toca à monitorização de sinais vitais. Dentro da eletrónica, inclui-se ainda a aquisição e o processamento de dados, dirigida ao controlo, regulação e atuação. Estas vertentes da tecnologia aliadas a uma extensa pesquisa acerca de saúde veterinária permitem a criação de um sistema de monitorização precisa. Neste artigo é proposto um sistema de monitorização de gado com base nas TICE desenvolvido sob a forma de coleira, que permitirá avaliar o batimento cardíaco e temperatura de cada animal. A avaliação correta destes dois parâmetros apenas, revela-se muito útil para grande parte das patologias e anomalias que constituem perdas económicas para os produtores. Com uma monitorização precisa, é possível contrariar esses efeitos negativos na produção animal.
