Abstract(s)
muitas vezes, desenvolvidos internamente, a limitação destes sistemas, nomeadamente
comercializar softwares ERP adequados a organizaƧƵes MRO.
a identificar as discrepâncias e identificar as melhorias, validando assim o estudo objeto
desta dissertação.
One of the challenges faced by the aircraft maintenance industry is the management and integration of data and information. As this is a field where processes are standardized by regulatory authorities, the rigor of processes execution is fundamental to act in compliance with the applicable regulations. Aircraft maintenance companies are responsible for ensuring that the aircraft is in an airworthy condition and apt to operate, leading aircraft operators to set strict deadlines for aircraft delivery and, consequently, increasing the complexity of an MRO organizationās activity. The need to combine rigor and celerity in the processes, forced the aircraft maintenance companies to change their operational paradigm using information systems that support the way data and information are collected, stored, processed, and distributed. Despite the attempts to use independent systems, often developed in-house, the limitations of these systems, namely in the integration of information between functional units, led to search for more efficient solutions. In order to overcome and respond to the limitations of non-integrated systems, the information technology industry has been developing and commercializing ERP software suitable for MRO organizations. These solutions allow managing an organizationās resources in an integrated and automated way, enabling the control of all operations and the streamlining of redundant procedures, resulting in an increase in efficiency and process optimization. This dissertation addressed the feasibility of implementing an ERP software in an MRO organization, focusing the study mainly on the operationalization of the engineering and planning department, before and after the implementation of an integrated system. The description of the operationalization of an MRO organization using non-integrated systems highlights the various procedures that need to be completed to integrate the information from the different systems, resulting in less efficiency in the companyās processes. The description of the scenario of using an ERP software underlines the improvements expected after the implementation of an integrated information system, particularly in the efficiency of processes, the optimization of use and planning of resources and the traceability and real-time control of operations. The functionalities of each solution (integrated and non-integrated) that serve to respond to the flow of information in maintenance management are compared in order to identify discrepancies and identify improvements, thus validating the object of this dissertation.
