As fontes termais portuguesas contam com um enorme potencial turĆstico, Ć semelhanƧa de outros paĆses europeus onde o termalismo, com origem num passado distante, deixou uma variada e rica arquitetura termal. Em Portugal, mais propriamente na zona norte, existem vĆ”rios exemplos dessa mesma arquitetura, muitos deles entregues ao abandono e esquecidos pela sociedade, como Ć© o caso do hotel e termas de Canaveses que outrora teve uma importĆ¢ncia notĆ”vel no desenvolvimento e reconhecimento da regiĆ£o onde se inserem.
Nos Ćŗltimos anos tem-se vindo a notar em Portugal uma crescente preocupaĆ§Ć£o em recuperar e reabilitar os edifĆcios com histĆ³ria, de forma a preservar a sua identidade, os edifĆcios termais nĆ£o sĆ£o exceĆ§Ć£o.
Dotados de caracterĆsticas Ćŗnicas para a prĆ”tica do turismo de saĆŗde e de bem-estar, os edifĆcios termais nĆ£o podiam ser deixados ao acaso.
Esta dissertaĆ§Ć£o procura assim apresentar uma proposta de reabilitaĆ§Ć£o do hotel e termas de Canaveses, procurando restituir a importĆ¢ncia turĆstica, social, e econĆ³mica, que lhe era caracterĆstica nos seus tempos Ć”ureos, assumindo a reabilitaĆ§Ć£o como um instrumento que cada vez mais contribui para o desenvolvimento sustentĆ”vel da sociedade.
The Portuguese hot springs have a huge touristic potential, similarly to other European countries, where the hydrotherapy with origin in a distant past, left a rich and varied thermal architecture. In Portugal, more specifically in the North, there are several examples of this same architecture, many of them delivered to abandon and forgotten by society, such as the Hotel and Thermal of Canaveses which once had a remarkable importance in the development and recognition of the region where they belong to. In recent years there has been noticing an increasing concern in Portugal to recover and rehabilitate buildings with history, in order to preserve their identity. The thermal buildings are no exception. Endowed with unique features for the practice of health tourism and wellness, the thermal buildings cannot be left to chance. This dissertation was made to present a proposal for rehabilitation of the Hotel and Thermal of Canaveses, looking to restore touristic, social and economic importance that was her feature in its heyday, assuming the rehabilitation as an instrument which more and more contributes to the sustainable development of society.
