As actividades de manutenção aeronáutica são uma parte essencial da continuidade de aeronavegabilidade, tendo como objectivo, tanto na área civil como militar, assegurar a total condição de serviço das aeronaves.
O crescimento do transporte aéreo mundial e um consequente aumento do transporte de passageiros tem obrigado a que a indústria de serviços de Manutenção, Reparação e Revisão geral (MRO) seja capaz de assegurar tais serviços com uma alta segurança de voo.
Neste contexto, o principal objectivo do presente estudo é alargar o conhecimento acerca da situação actual da manutenção aeronáutica de modo a perspectivar que desafios se colocam aos desenvolvimentos.
Para tal, inicia-se com uma exposição de conceitos básicos e definições da manutenção aeronáutica em geral. A seguir, examina-se o contexto nacional, mais concretamente a TAP e a OGMA que dominam este segmento de indústria em termos de emprego, investimento e volume de negócios. Caracteriza-se o estado da arte da manutenção em termos globais designadamente no sector MRO, com ênfase em quatro delas.
O final, contém informação acerca dos desafios perseguidos pelas empresas de manutenção aeronáutica ao nível da eficácia do processo e alguns desenvolvimentos tecnológicos no âmbito da manutenção aeronáutica.
A dissertação permitiu concluir a importância dos planos de manutenção de aeronaves na gestão da continuidade da aeronavegabilidade. Também se concluiu que as mudanças em termos de tecnologia no âmbito da manutenção encontram algumas dificuldades.
The aircraft maintenance activities are an essential part of the continuity of airworthiness, having as a goal, both in civil as in military area, to ensure complete service condition of the aircraft. The increase of global air transport and the consequent growth of passenger traffic have caused the services industry of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) are able to guarantee such services with high flight safety. In this context, the main purpose of this study is to extend the knowledge about the current situation of the aircraft maintenance in order to foresee what challenges are being developed. To this end, this text begins with a brief description of basic concepts and definitions of the aircraft maintenance in general. The following examines the national context, more specifically TAP and OGMA that dominate the industry segment in terms of employment, investment and sales. Also, a description is made regarding the state of the art of maintenance globally, particularly in the MRO sector. The final part contains information about the challenges pursued by the aircraft maintenance companies at the process efficiency level and some technological developments in the field of aircraft maintenance. The present research also draws some conclusions about the importance of aircraft maintenance in the management of continuity of airworthiness. Furthermore, it was also concluded that the changes concerning technology in maintenance field experience some difficulties.
