Abstract(s)
Algumas pesquisas
In METAMORPHOSIS (...) the aim is to build a critical reflection on architecture theme as a therapeutic resource for psychological illnesses treatment. Introducing this approach in the development of a practical project aims to respond to the needs of psychosocial therapy centers in our country, seeking to understand the influence of architectural space on the daily life of a person with mental illness. With this purpose, a dual approach was carried out: on one hand, a literature review was conducted on the mental health subject, and on the other hand, conversations were held with professionals in the field, patients, and family members. The aim is to establish a space where the patient feels comfortable and welcomed, where they can feel like a person and not just a disease, through the creation of an establishment that uses architecture as a means of recovery, thus reducing the physical restrictions found in this type of hospital building. The environment in which the patient is placed is crucial for their recovery. Welldesigned spaces, with low noise and tranquility, can help alleviate stress and anxiety. Some studies suggest that contemplation of nature and panoramic landscapes can have an impact on mental health, relieving stress and depression. The landscapes are enhanced through buildings, allowing them to be used as therapies, fragmenting the project into basic units, acquiring a specific design, responding to the needs of each separate part. The creation of therapeutic environments with distinct spatial requirements always involves nature and therapeutic gardens. Referring pragmatic examples, using them as a reference in the healthcare architecture filed, using the nature as a form of healing, intends to create welcoming spaces that are different from the usual appearance of hospitals, providing different experiences and sensations. In this way, it is important to understand how space elements, such as light, colors, shapes, sounds, and materials, positively or negatively affect the perception of the lived environment, altering individual behavior and giving rise to different behaviors and sensations. These factors are positive in the treatment of patients and allow the creation of a better environment for both patients and staff. The main goal of this health-related architectural project is to encourage contact with nature and the outdoors, using architecture as a form of therapy, minimizing the intervention of many treatments. In summary, this work aims to demonstrate the role of the architect as an integral part of therapy, stimulating the healing process, through a sense of well-being at a social, physical and psychological level.
