| dc.description.abstract | A morfologia do espaço urbano das cidades europeias, bem como o ritmo da sua expansão, tem vindo a seguir uma tendência há já algumas décadas. A persistência no uso das mesmas noções urbanas ao longo de séculos de expansão urbana, como a tentativa, exaustiva, de manter uma “imagem de marca” estampada nos edifícios, ruas e espaços, tem vindo a “enclausurar” as cidades europeias a uma determinada identidade, que, por um lado, homogeneíza a paisagem dos seus centros históricos e, por outro, condiciona o seu potencial crescimento urbano. A preservação, museal, digamos, dos seus centros históricos levou a um esquecimento progressivo de todas as outras regiões urbanas, o que acabou por gerar uma rutura social e urbanística entre o centro e a periferia. Estranhamente, a identidade assume-se como um dos principais fatores geradores da discrepância urbanística que se vive nas cidades europeias contemporâneas. As políticas e normas urbanas que regem estas cidades incitaram uma mentalidade que zela por interesses estéticos, ao invés de interesses benéficos para a habitabilidade e sociabilidade destas áreas urbanas. Devido, em grande parte, a este afastamento dos subúrbios para as margens da cidade e da preservação e isolamento do centro perante todas as outras áreas urbanas, foram criadas duas situações caoticamente díspares numa só cidade: o urbano e o suburbano. Recorrendo ao cinema como ferramenta de análise do espaço urbano e das incessáveis mutações da cidade, pretende-se: por um lado, aproximar as duas artes, a arquitetura e o cinema, de forma a que a sua relação forme uma abordagem de pensamento crítico sobre a evolução e representação urbana; por outro lado, auxiliar a compreensão de sociedades que, normalmente, estão viradas para si próprias, e que demonstram uma clara aversão perante a cidade e o país a que pertencem. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | The morphology of the European urban space, as same as, its expansion rhythm, have been following the same tendency for the past decades. The persistency in using the same urban notions throughout centuries of urban expansion, as an exhaustive attempt of maintaining a certain brand mark stamped on the buildings, streets and spaces, has been cloistering the European cities in a specific identity, that, in the one hand, homogenizes the city center landscape, and in the other hand, retains its potential urban growth. This, so to speak, museum-like preservation of the historical city center, led to a progressive oblivion of the all other urban regions, which ended up creating a tremendous social and urban disruption between the center and the periphery. Strangely, these notion of identity, turns out to be, one of the strongest motives of the urban discrepancy that we frequently find now-a-days in these contemporary cities. The urban politics and standards that rule these cities incited the consolidation of a specific mentality that ensures priority to the aesthetics concerns, instead of beneficial ones that could improve the habitability and sociability of these urban areas. Due, mostly, to this detachment of the suburbs from the city to its margins and also due to the preservation and isolation of the city center towards all the others urban areas, were consequently created two chaotically opposite situations in the same city: the urban and the suburban. Resorting to the cinema as a tool to help the analyzes of the urban space and the unstoppable city’s mutations, we intend to, on the one hand, bring architecture and cinema closer to each other, in a way that, with these relationship, we could structure an approach of a linear thought regarding the urban evolution and representation; on the other hand, to assist our understanding about certain society, that are usually turned to themselves, showing a strong aversion towards the city and the country that they belong. | eng |
