Abstract(s)

The rehabilitation with the adequacy to the new function perspective the respect and the safeguard of the existing construction, potentializing its characteristics. This study also includes the expansion of knowledge about the conservation and rehabilitation of pre-existing buildings, their functionality as a way of revitalizing them, research and cooperation in the search for this type of accommodation, as a response to the intrinsic needs of the city itself. The methodology for an intervention study with this theme and typology involves the reading, research and knowledge of all the necessary legislation for its development, given the designation of the lodging that is very present today, as well as its consideration as a new tourist reality. A hostel is an excellent solution for intervention in empty or degraded buildings, where conservation and rehabilitation criteria are applied, the safeguard of the existing construction, the simple and distinct characteristics and the reutilization of its physical and architectural qualities.
