Magalhães, Ana Rita Pinheiro; Cerejeira, Joaquim Manuel SoaresIntroduction Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by symptoms of inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. Insomnia, a frequently associated comorbidity, significantly affects patients' quality of life and daily performance. An integrated therapeutic approach has shown positive results in the management of this condition. Objectives The aim of this dissertation is to identify and contextualize the most appropriate therapeutic interventions for managing insomnia in adults with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder. Methodology In this review, a search was carried out in the PubMed database, using the terms attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder; insomnia; adults and treatment. Articles and books relevant to the topic were consulted. Discussion The results show that non-pharmacological interventions and pharmacological therapies promoted overall improvements in sleep quality. Conclusion The findings reinforce the importance of a multidisciplinary and personalized approach to the management of insomnia in adults with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, with the potential to improve the clinical condition and quality of life.
