Esta dissertação analisa a história da moda masculina em Portugal, desde o inĆcio do sĆ©culo XX atĆ© Ć s tendĆŖncias contemporĆ¢neas, com foco na intersecção entre masculinidades e códigos de design. Por meio de uma abordagem metodológica que combina pesquisa bibliogrĆ”fica, anĆ”lises iconogrĆ”ficas e estudo de caso, o trabalho investiga as influĆŖncias históricas da alfaiataria e os códigos estĆ©ticos associados Ć s masculinidades no contexto portuguĆŖs atual. O estudo mapeia o panorama contemporĆ¢neo da moda masculina em Portugal, destacando designers e estĆ©ticas que se distinguem pela inovação e capacidade de adaptação Ć s novas dinĆ¢micas de consumo. AlĆ©m disso, analisa estratĆ©gias digitais e plataformas de comĆ©rcio eletrónico implementadas por marcas nacionais, visando compreender as preferĆŖncias dos consumidores e traduzir uma identidade cultural singular no mercado global. Como resultado, Ć© apresentada uma proposta de marca e coleção que explora o equilĆbrio entre tradição e modernidade, reinterpretando a heranƧa da alfaiataria Ć luz das mudanƧas culturais e comportamentais. Assim, esta dissertação contribui para o debate sobre a moda masculina enquanto fenómeno cultural e social, promovendo uma reflexĆ£o sobre o seu papel no contexto contemporĆ¢neo portuguĆŖs.
This dissertation analyzes the history of men's fashion in Portugal, from the early 20th century to contemporary trends, focusing on the intersection between masculinities and design codes. Through a methodological approach that combines bibliographic research, iconographic analysis, and case studies, the work investigates the historical influences of tailoring, and the aesthetic codes associated with masculinities in the current Portuguese context. The study maps the contemporary landscape of men's fashion in Portugal, highlighting designers and aesthetics that stand out for their innovation and ability to adapt to new consumption dynamics. Additionally, it examines digital strategies and ecommerce platforms implemented by national brands to understand consumer preferences and translate a unique cultural identity in the global market. As a result, a brand and collection proposal is presented, exploring the balance between tradition and modernity while reinterpreting the legacy of tailoring in light of cultural and behavioral shifts. This dissertation thus contributes to the discussion of men's fashion as a cultural and social phenomenon, fostering a reflection on its role in the contemporary Portuguese context.
