Abstract(s)
instrumentos utilizados foram: Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS-VRP) e
o Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9).
predição do afeto positivo e negativo, respetivamente.
The growing analysis and research on psychological and psychosocial phenomenons that facilitate or interfere with (mental) health in a stage of life cycle where individuals are performing an occupational activity was the main focus of this study. Among the numerous variables that may be analysed, we focus on the subjective well-being variable (positive and negative affect) and the engagement process. Subjective well-being is part of the area of positive psychology where emotions and feelings play a potentially important role in the way individuals react proactively or adaptively to the circumstances and demands of the environment, achieving salutogenic interactions. This research is an exploratory transversal study, descriptive and correlational on its nature. The main objective will be to analyse and describe the events and explore associations and possible predictive effects, seeking, in particular, the analysis of how engagement contributes, or not, to the subjective well-being of adults who are occupationally active, assuming here, an occupational vision that is not strictly professional. Regarding the method, data were collected exclusively online through selfadministered questionnaires, which allowed to establish a sample of 1016 valid, adult and occupationally active participants. The instruments used were: Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS-VRP) and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale (UWES-9). Concerning the multiple data analyses carried out in relation to the descriptive objectives, the difference tests revealed the existence of significant differences in the dimensions of engagement and in the dimensions of subjective well-being according to age. Through the results obtained in the association tests, it was concluded that there were both positive and negative correlations between the dimensions; however, engagement and positive well-being showed a weak correlation. With regard to the predictive analysis, only the dimension of vigour showed statistically significant positive and negative values in predicting positive and negative affect, respectively.
