Abstract(s)
No primeiro capítulo
Nesta parte do documento contextualizamos a escola,
todas as imagens.
This document is made up of two independent chapters. The first chapter describes the entire process of pedagogical intervention that took place during the pedagogical internship observation stage carried out in the school group of Sabugal during the second term of the 2019/2020 school year. In this part of the document we contextualise the school, describe the observations of classes and substantiate the whole teaching-learning process for the course unit of handball in a 10th grade class. Research and pedagogical innovation work is included in the second chapter. The aim of this research work was the facial recognition of a pictorial scale for children aged between 5 and 8 culturally adapted for Portugal which was designed to evaluate perceived aquatic competence (Morgado et al., 2020), evaluating the understanding of the images according to age, gender and previous aquatic experience. The sample consisted of 120 children aged between 5 and 8 years old, chosen randomly from six teaching establishments in the school group of Sabugal. The children were divided into four age groups (n=30) following an equitable distribution. In the comparison by gender and previous aquatic experience, no equity was verified, (male n=64, female n=56 and with experience n=50, without experience n=70). The children were assessed individually to verify their understanding of skills of the battery of tests. The results indicate that the majority of the children correctly understood and explained all the images. An improvement in results was verified in the 5 to 6 age group and balance up to the 8 year olds. The 5 year old group showed more difficulties in some confusing situations due to the graphic aspects of the nomenclature used. Gender differences are not significant (p=0,06), but as for previous aquatic experience, the opposite is verified (p=0,008). The data collected allows us to test the good understanding of all the images from the battery of tests, despite lower results for the 5 year old age group. The study enabled the survey of some aspects that generate confusion allowing for changes to be made in order to improve the pictorial scale in cultural adaptation.
