Abstract(s)
A moda, sendo um reflexo do tempo, tem acompanhado o vestuário e a sua evolução ao
longo dos anos. Nesta dissertação observam-se e analisam-se as principais mudanças
que foram acontecendo na história da humanidade e o impacto que tiveram na
sociedade, tanto a nível social como cultural e económico.
Numa época particularmente caracterizada pela necessidade de mudança,
chamar a atenção das grandes indústrias para as repercussões negativas do seu impacto
torna-se particularmente premente.
As constantes restrições à liberdade individual de que o nosso tempo ainda é
testemunha, bem como a limitada representatividade e inclusividade que a indústria da
moda denota, sublinham a urgência de uma melhor compreensão e reflexão sobre os
estereótipos e contradições existentes e alimentados até aos nossos dias. É esse o
principal propósito desta dissertação.
As a reflection of its time, Fashion has accompanied apparel’s evolution throughout the years. This dissertation observes and analyses the main changes that affected human history, as well as the impact they have had as much socially, as culturally, and economically. In a time as characterized by the need of change as ours, calling the main industries’ attention to the negative repercussions of their impact becomes particularly urgent. The constant restrictions imposed to individual freedoms testified by our century, as well as the limited representativity and inclusivity demonstrated by the Fashion industry underline the need to better understand and think about the stereotypes and contradictions which are still being fed and developed. That is the main purpose of this dissertation.
