Abstract(s)
grandiosidade e a sublimidade daqueles espaços.
This report aims to describe and analyze the conceptual, creative and technical journey, as well as critical reflection on the short film Eterna. The film presents itself as an immersive incursion into the landscape, the atmosphere and the grandeur of nature, in a process of physical, technical and aesthetic discovery. It was filmed over seventeen days, between January and April 2024, in mountains, forests and coastal areas of the island of Madeira, more specifically, in the municipalities of Santa Cruz and Funchal. It aims to think about and represent nature in a sensorial register that reflects the grandeur and sublimity of those spaces. In the first part of the report, the premise of the film project is described and the artistic influences, coming from painting and cinema, which helped in the making of the short film, are indicated. In the second part, the methods, stages, means and resources used in the cinematographic journey through nature throughout the filming are described, as well as the metamorphoses undergone by the work. In the third part, the return home and the post-production work are described, explaining the decisions in the film's editing and sound design process. Finally, a theoretical-critical reflection is made on the work, through a confrontation with experimental cinema directors, deepening the understanding of Eterna. In conclusion, the aim was to offer a contribution to experimental cinema in which, assuming nature as the protagonist, the spirituality of life and being is cinematographically reflected.
