| dc.description.abstract | A casa mariense rural da ilha de Santa Maria é o foco da investigação, sendo que esta possui uma grande carga simbólica para a ilha, pois, representa a identidade do povo, refletindo a especificidade do lugar. A casa mariense é parte integral da paisagem, em que tem uma identidade própria, muito expressiva nas diferentes freguesias, sendo esta, a que se pretende ressaltar. As casas podem-se diferenciar das mais abastadas às modestas, das rurais às urbanas. Os vários modelos de casas marienses traduzem-se através das estratégias que utilizavam na implantação, em que as mesmas se adaptavam de lugar para lugar devido à topografia, onde existem planícies e vales, como consequência no desenho das tipologias. Estas, foram sofrendo alterações ao longo dos anos, alterando o modelo da casa, com caraterísticas pontuais nas fachadas ou mesmo na sua dimensão devido a ampliações feitas a partir da tipologia original, podendo ser alterada ou mesmo já feitas de raiz. Atualmente, continua a haver alterações na casa típica, em que se fazem ampliações devido à pequena dimensão das casas existentes, havendo necessidade de as aumentar. No entanto, ao reabilitar o existente, por vezes incorporasse um módulo contemporâneo, com uma linguagem arquitetónica distinta da casa típica. A dissertação parte da caraterização geral da ilha, do estudo e análise dos modelos das casas típicas marienses evidenciando e analisando as tipologias mais representativas da ilha, assim como os vários elementos principais que a constituem, fachadas, plantas, materiais, métodos construtivos. Consequentemente analisam-se casos de reabilitação e adaptação destas casas típicas. O objetivo principal é evidenciar a importância da memória perante estas habitações, do local e do património existente na ilha, que desempenham papéis cruciais na construção da identidade e imagem caraterísticas do lugar. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | The rural mariense house on the island of Santa Maria is the focus of this investigation. It has a great symbolic significance for the island, as it represents the identity of the people and reflects the specificity of the place. The mariense house is an integral part of the landscape, in which it has its own identity, very expressive in the different parishes, and this is the one we want to highlight. Houses can differ from the wealthiest to the most modest, from rural to urban. The various models of houses in Santa Maria are reflected in the strategies they used in their implantation, in which they adapted from place to place due to the topography, where there are plains and valleys, as a consequence in the design of the typologies. These have undergone changes over the years, altering the model of the house, with specific features on the façades or even in its size due to extensions made from the original typology being replicated or even being made from scratch. Currently, there are still alterations to the typical house in which extensions are made due to the small size of the existing houses and the need to enlarge them. However, when rehabilitating the existing one, sometimes a contemporary module is incorporated, with an architectural language that is distinct from the typical house. The dissertation starts with a general characterization of the island, the study and analysis of the models of the typical houses of Santa Maria, highlighting and analyzing the most representative typologies of the island, as well as the various main elements that make it up, façades, floor plans, materials, construction methods. Consequently, cases of rehabilitation and adaptation of these typical houses are analyzed. The main aim is to highlight the importance of memory in relation to these houses, the location and the island's existing heritage, which play crucial roles in building the identity and image characteristic of the place. | eng |
