| dc.description.abstract | No final do sé c. XX, início do séc. XXI, a nossa sociedade modifica se, fruto de rápidas mudanças sociais. A tecnologia e a medicina, crescentemente interligadas, contribuíram inequivocamente para algumas das principais mudanças ocorridas. Mais aceleradamente, a partir dos anos 90 do século passado, anos de ouro da medicina (Conrad, 2005), a mesma desenvolveu se e especializou se. Não obstante as melhorias que esse desenvolvimento trouxe à saúde e à vida das pessoas, a medicina ganhou influência sobre múltiplos aspetos d a vida social e da vida dos indivíduos, contribuindo para a produção de novos significados em torno de determinadas realidades, de certo modo impondo determinadas definições e entendimentos relativamente a elas. Nomeadamente, a construção social do que é s audável e não saudável alterou se, e atualmente as definições médicas passaram também a ser definições sociais, dado o nível de interiorização destas questões por parte da população. Pretendemos com a nossa investigação perceber em que medida a construção social da obesidade e do saudável influencia a auto-imagem corporal dos jovens e o modo como se relacionam, julgam e controlam os outros. A investigação empírica desenvolveu-se com base na recolha de testemunhos biográficos, por meio de um blog criado especificamente para o efeito, e teve como população alvo jovens entre os 15 e os 30 anos. A principal conclusão da análise dos testemunhos dos jovens, é que a construção social da obesidade, sobre a qual a medicalização da obesidade teve muita influência, o saudável médico, os padrões de beleza médico-sociais e os pressupostos do biopoder, já interiorizados pelos jovens, constituem-se como formas de regulação social e influenciam o modo como os indivíduos se veem a si mesmos e veem os outros, bem como a forma como lidam consigo mesmos, com os seus corpos e com os outros. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | By the end of the 20 th century, beginnings of 21 st century, our society changed, due to fast social changes. Technology and medicine, increasingly linked, contributed, with no doubt, to some of those main changes. Medicine, more rapidly from the 90's of last century, which were its golden age (Conrad , 2005), has developed and specialized. Despite all the improvements that its developments bought to people’s health and life, medicine has gained influence over various aspects of social life and over the life of individuals, contributing to the productio n of new meanings concerning certain realities, in a certain way, imposing new definitions and new ways of understanding them namely, the social construction of what is healthy and non healthy has changed, and nowadays the medical definitions have turned into social definitions as well, given the level of internalization of these questions by the population. With this study, we intend to understand in which way the social construction of obesity and of healthy impacts on the body image that young people h ave of themselves, and also on the way they interact, judge and control other people. The empirical research developed with the collection of biographical testimonies, through a blog created for that purpose, and included young people between the ages of 1 5 and 30 years old as the target population. The main conclusion of the young people's testimonies is that the social construction of obesity, very influenced by the medicalization of obesity, the medical healthy, the patterns of social medical beauty and assumptions of bio power, already internalized by the youth, constitute forms of social regulation and influence young people’s ways of seeing themselves and others, as well as the ways of dealing with themselves, their bodies and others. | eng |
