Abstract(s)
Teresa
Calamia.
The present document consists of the three components developed during the Pharmaceutical Sciences internship: Research, Community Pharmacy and Hospital Pharmacy. Each component constitutes a chapter of this document. The first chapter presents a brief characterization of thyroidism in Portugal, from the coastline to the inner land. This research was based on a questionnaire applied to a group of 416 people living in the above referred areas. However, it was not possible to verify clear and unequivocal evidence that there may be a geographic association with the prevalence of thyroid diseases. The questionnaire results showed a percentage of 48,3% for those living in the coast and 52,8% for those inhabiting the interior. Geographically speaking the survey did not prove that the presence of thyroid pathology has any statistical significance, as the difference (p=0,487) is not significant enough to reach a scientific conclusion. The second chapter describes the internship in Community Pharmacy held at «Farmácia Silveira Birre, Cascais», under the guidance of Dra. Nadine Lemos, between August 3rd and October 23th,2015. The third and last chapter relates to the internship done in Hospital Pharmacy, between October 26th, 2015, and January 29th, 2016. It was carried out within the scope of the international mobility program ERASMUS +, at Ospedale Nuovo Regina Margheritta, in Rome, Italy, under the guidance of Dr. Teresa Calamia.
