Abstract(s)
Os diversos problemas sociais e ambientais presentes na sociedade, têm pressionado as
organizações a adotarem ações de Responsabilidade Social (RS) no intuito de dar
resposta a esses mesmos problemas. Também as Instituições de Ensino Superior (IES),
passaram a adotar tais práticas com vista a promoverem o bem-estar da sua
comunidade académica, preocupando-se, portanto, e principalmente, com as questões
sociais e ambientais, e desenvolvendo deste modo a Responsabilidade Social
Universitária (RSU).
No contexto da atual investigação foi elaborado um estudo empírico, com recurso a
questionários passados a docentes e estudantes, com o objetivo de se tentar
compreender qual a perceção da comunidade académica em relação às iniciativas
socialmente responsáveis desenvolvidas pela Universidade da Beira Interior (UBI).
Desta forma, foi possível constatar por meio dos resultados alcançados que de facto a
RSU é tida como de grande relevância para a comunidade académica, pois quer os
estudantes, quer os docentes consideram de grande interesse e importância a prática de
iniciativas e ações sociais que auxiliem a comunidade académica, e que a universidade
tenha em atenção o meio ambiente. Pode-se ainda afirmar que com as diversas
mudanças a nível social, cada vez mais estudantes e docentes procuram uma IES que
seja socialmente responsável, que procure responder às necessidades da sua
comunidade e da sociedade onde se encontre inserida, visando o seu bem-estar e
apresente de igual modo projetos ambientalmente responsáveis.
The several social and environmental problems presented in society have pressured organizations to adopt Social Responsibility (SR) actions in response to these constraints. Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) have also started to adopt such practices aiming to promote the well-being of their academic community, being concerned, primarily, with social and environmental issues, and developing University Social Responsibility (USR). In the context of the current research, an empirical study was conducted, using questionnaires handed out to teachers and students, with the purpose of trying to understand what is the perception of the academic community is regarding the socially responsible initiatives developed by the University of Beira Interior (UBI). In this way, it was possible to verify, through the results, achieved that in fact the USR is considered of great relevance to the academic community. That is because both students and teachers consider of great interest and importance the practice of social initiatives and actions that help the academic community, and that the university pays attention to the environment. It can also be stated that with the various changes at the social level, more and more students and teachers are looking for a HEI that is socially responsible, that seeks to respond to the needs of its surrounding community and the society, aiming at its well-being and also presenting environmentally responsible projects.
