dc.description.abstract	A presente dissertação assenta na realização de uma proposta para um Centro Cultural Japonês, localizado no centro de Tóquio, como forma de resposta e adaptação de um programa atribuído no site de concursos BeeBreeders. Falar numa intervenção numa cidade ancestral como Tóquio, implica falar da sua História, do seu quotidiano, da sua herança cultural e da interação desta com o resto do Mundo. Os acontecimentos históricos que mais contribuíram para a abertura desta cidade do Império do Sol Nascente ao mundo, ocorreram sobretudo a partir dos finais do século XIX, intensificaramse no período pós-guerra e conduziram a uma modernização e interacção com novas culturas, como a ocidental. Por sua vez, esta expansão cultural despertou interesse e curiosidade pelo estudo das diversas características e peculiaridades próprias deste povo. Pretende-se conhecer e explorar alguns elementos conceptuais, simbologia e significados de aspectos da cultura e estética japonesas, e reflectir sobre a temática do Jardim e do lugar onde está inserido, adaptando-os para o campo da arquitectura. Desta forma, a presente dissertação surge como uma proposta para um Centro Cultural Japonês, sito no “coração” de Tóquio, mais propriamente no distrito de Chiyoda. Tem como base um local de intervenção e um programa atribuídos no site de concursos BeeBreeders, onde se pretende a realização de um espaço lúdico. Como consequência da envolvente do local de intervenção, o tema foi adaptado e ampliado de forma a que se pudesse entender melhor o “Jardim” e a sua relação com o “Espaço e o Lugar” que o circunscreve.	por
dc.description.abstract	This dissertation consists in a project proposal for the development of a Japanese Cultural Center, located in the center of Tokyo, as a way of reusing and adapting a program retrieved from the BeeBreeders contest website. When considering any type of intervention in a city like Tokyo, it is required first to understand its history, its lifestyle, its cultural heritage and its interaction with the rest of the world. The historical events that contributed the most to an opening of the city of the Empire of the Rising Sun to the world, took place mostly after the latest years of the XIX century, and gained bigger proportions in the post-war period. This has led to the modernization of the city of Tokyo and also allowed the interaction with new cultures, such as the Western one. This cultural expansion triggered the interest and curiosity for the study of the diverse characteristics and peculiarities of the Japanese culture. This dissertation aims to describe and explore some conceptual elements and symbols of the Japanese culture and aesthetic, as well to address the thematic of the Garden and the place where it is inserted, adapting it to the architecture field. This dissertation constitutes a proposal for a Japanese Culture Center, located in the “heart” of the city of Tokyo, namely in the Chiyoda district. It is based on a place of intervention and a program assigned on the site BeeBreeders contests, where it is intended the realization of a playful space. As a consequence of the surroundings of the place of intervention, the theme was adapted and expanded so that one could better understand the "Garden" and its relation with the "Space and Place" that circumscribes it.	eng
