Abstract(s)
perspetiva teórica à vivência prática do estágio.
Nowadays, there is a certain disregard for Print and its role and influence in the fashion industry. This internship report offers a comprehensive analysis of the experience gained, the knowledge acquired and the professional skills developed during the curricular internship carried out at Lighthouse Publishing, publisher of Vogue Portugal magazine, between August and November 2023. In addition to the practical immersion in the company, the aim was to deepen the understanding of the area in which the internship took place, through an investigation into the various facets of editorial design in the fashion world. As for the methodology, an exploratory investigation was carried out into the practical and theoretical perspective of the subject, based on a comprehensive literature review, data triangulation, case studies and the execution of the internship. This research aims to understand, in graphic terms, the strategies used by fashion magazines. More specifically, it addresses the influential role of fashion magazines, their history, evolution and influence in this scenario, always adding this theoretical perspective to the practical experience of the internship. In this context, the focus is on the Vogue brand, and more specifically Vogue Portugal, a brand that stands out for its innovation and rupture with established norms within the fashion scene. Pertinent questions are raised about its choices, such as the adoption of simplicity or new graphics in its editorial design and format, when compared to other brands in the international Vogue market. The aim was not only to understand the impact of these choices, but also to investigate the motivations behind them. This study also sought to decipher what motivates the persistence of interest in physical magazines in a predominantly digital age, shedding light on possible projections for the future of magazines in the coming decades.
