Abstract(s)
A Arquitetura, em conjunto com a luz natural, resulta na combinação perfeita para modelar o
espaço. A luz aperfeiçoa o espaço de modo a transmitir sensações e de se fazer viver a
Arquitetura. É talvez o recurso com maior valor na atmosfera do espaço, pois gera emoções e
completa a poética do projeto.
Na história da Arquitetura, a luz sempre teve um papel fundamental uma vez que, já desde os
tempos mais recuados, era profundamente estudada e controlada de forma a incidir pelas
janelas e cúpulas, proporcionando o ambiente desejado.
No presente trabalho, pretende-se entender melhor como a arquitetura se relaciona com a
luz e o espaço, reconhecendo a diversidade de sensações que emergem nas diferentes formas
de utilização da luz. Assim, percebe-se que há Arquitetura quando existe luz, pois a luz
transmite sensações e de forma instintiva propaga-se por um espaço sem formar barreiras
físicas, mas antes sensoriais.
Tenciona-se analisar de que forma é transmitida e como pode ser vivida, compreendida e de
que maneira influencia as restantes componentes que concretizam o espaço, entre elas as
cores, as matérias e texturas. Por outro lado, onde existe luz existe sombra e a sua conjunção
origina o ambiente perfeito. Esta dicotomia de luz e sombra é considerada como um dos mais
valiosos recursos da arquitetura.
Nesta dissertação, tem-se como objetivo aprofundar a análise da luz e da sombra, revelando
a sua importância para a arquitetura, com um papel essencial. O estudo do tema, tendo como
base a conjunção da luz (natural e artificial) e a sombra, terá uma expressão prática a
explorar em projeto. Assim, irá ser apresentada uma proposta de refúgio de estadia
temporária para as Ilhas Selvagens da Madeira.
The Architecture, together with natural light, results in a perfect combination to shape space. To perfect space so it can transmit sensations and to make the architecture live. It might be the most valuable resource when it comes to space, because it can generate emotions and completes the poetics of the project. In the history of Architecture, light always had a fundamental part to play, since the early ages, it was deeply studied and controlled so it could shine through windows and domes and provide the desired environment. In the present work it is intended to better understand how architecture relates to lighting and space, recognizing the diversity of sensations that can emerge from the diferente ways that light could be used. Therefore it is perceived that there is architecture when there is light, because it transmits sensations instinctively by propagating through the space without creating physical barriers, but sensorial sensations instead. It is intended to analyze in what ways it is transmitted and how it could be experienced and comprehended and in what way it can influence the remaining components that form the space, among them the colors, the matter and textures. On the other hand where there is light there is also shadow and from its conjunction the perfect ambiente is originated. This dissertation has the goal of deepening the analysis of light and shadow, revealing its importance for architecture, as a main role. The study of the theme based on light conjugation (natural and artificial) and the shadow will have a practical expression to explore on project. Therefore it will be presented a housing proposal for the “Ilhas Selvagens” in Madeira.
