Abstract(s)
Escolheu-se o tema da iluminação por ser um fenómeno que permite elevar as
potencialidades e exigências do design a partir do desenho de luz, seja na
consideração e condicionamento do funcionamento e comportamento da luz
natural, seja na utilização de fontes de iluminação artificiais.
Na transição para o século XX, uma das grandes transformações verificadas nos
espaços resultou da introdução da iluminação eléctrica, cujo desempenho, desde
então, não cessou de progredir. Hoje, a tecnologia LED surpreende-nos com
resultados quantitativos e qualitativos inéditos. Em pleno século XXI, com a
actual evolução das sociedades, das tecnologias e das condições ambientais a
nível global, enfrentamos um novo momento de viragem. Neste sentido,
orientámos a pesquisa por cinco tópicos gerais de análise cuja reflexão se revelou
determinante para o projeto de iluminação desenvolvido. Começa-se pelas
Pessoas, porque a luz é, antes de tudo, um elemento essencial à vida humana,
pelo que foi sendo objecto de invenção ao longo do tempo. Explora-se o tema da
arquitectura interiores, cujas formas apenas são perceptíveis sob o efeito da luz,
originando esta relação indissociável. Avalia-se o contexto, uma vez que as
condicionantes locais influenciam qualquer projeto, em particular de iluminação.
Prossegue-se com a tecnologia, indispensável para o desenvolvimento de uma
intervenção contemporânea. A investigação baseou-se nos conceitos da área
minimalista do Light Design, nas estratégias de resolução de problemas
solicitados, contemplando diversas experiências criativas e técnicas ao longo do
processo de projecto da exposição.
Este projecto teve como objetivo central a formulação de um pensamento
baseado na criação de uma peça que, por sua vez, foi o mote para o
desenvolvimento do percurso de investigação aqui documentado. Inventariou-se
um vasto leque de referências nesta área, pelo que o desafio consistiu em
introduzir uma mais-valia a nível conceptual e produtivo, quer a pela pesquisa de
novos materiais e mesmo de novas soluções construtivas, tendentes à elaboração
do protótipo. A metodologia desenvolvida apresentou resultados positivos em
diversos âmbitos técnicos e estéticos.
The theme of lighting has been chosen because it is a phenomenon that allows to raise the potentialities and requirements of design from the design of light, either in the consideration and conditioning of the operation and behavior of natural light, or in the use of artificial lighting sources. In the transition to the twentieth century, one of the great transformations verified in the spaces resulted from the introduction of electric illumination, whose performance has since continued to progress. Today, LED technology surprises us with unprecedented quantitative and qualitative results. In the 21st century, with the current evolution of societies, technologies and environmental conditions globally, we are facing a new turning point. In this sense, we guided the research through five general topics of analysis whose reflection was decisive for the lighting project developed. It begins with People, because light is first and foremost an essential element of human life, and has been the subject of invention over time. The subject of interior architecture is explored, whose forms are only perceptible under the effect of light, originating this inseparable relation. The context is evaluated, since the local conditions influence any project, in particular lighting. It continues with the technology, indispensable for the development of a contemporary intervention. The research was based on the concepts of the minimalist area of Light Design, in the strategies of solving requested problems, contemplating diverse creative and technical experiences throughout the design process of the exhibition. This project had as its central objective the formulation of a thought based on the creation of a piece that, in turn, was the motto for the development of the investigation course documented here. A wide range of references was inventoried in this area, so the challenge was to introduce conceptual and productive surplus value, both through the research of new materials and even of new constructive solutions, aimed at the elaboration of the prototype. The developed methodology presented positive results in several technical and aesthetic environments.
