Abstract(s)
O presente estudo dedicou-se sobre a avaliação do medo de progressão da
doença, relacionando-o com variáveis sociodemográficas e clínicas, sintomatologia de
ansiedade e de depressão e a relação destas com a qualidade de vida dos sobreviventes
de cancro da região da Beira Interior. Para tal, foi recolhida uma amostra de
conveniência numa unidade hospitalar e num projeto comunitário da região. Os
inquiridos deveriam responder ao protocolo de avaliação composto pelos seguintes
instrumentos: Questionário Sóciodemográfico e Clínico, Patient Health Questionnaire
(PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), Fear of Progression
Questionnaire-Short Form (FoP- Q-SF) e Quality of Life Questionnaire Core-30
(EORTC QLQ C-30). A amostra revelou níveis de medo da progressão da doença
inseridos nos valores normativos, exibindo ainda diferenças entre sexos e níveis de
habilitações literárias. Foi também assinalada a presença de uma relação entre a
sintomatologia de depressão, de ansiedade e o medo da progressão da doença, além de
associações negativas entre a qualidade de vida e essas variáveis. Estudos focados na
avaliação de domínios como o medo de progressão da doença permitem conhecer o
grupo de sobreviventes oncológicos de forma mais aprofundada e adaptar as
intervenções e serviços prestados às suas necessidades.
The present study focused on the assessment of the fear of disease progression, relating it to sociodemographic and clinical variables, anxiety and depression symptoms and their relationship with the quality of life of cancer survivors in the Beira Interior region. To this end, a convenience sample was collected in a hospital unit and in a community project in the region. The respondents had to answer the evaluation protocol composed of the following instruments: Sociodemographic and Clinical Questionnaire, Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9), Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7), Fear of Progression Questionnaire - Short Form (FoP-Q-SF) and Quality of Life Questionnaire Core-30 (EORTC QLQ C-30). The sample revealed levels of fear of disease progression included in the normative values, also showing differences between sexes and levels educational levels. The presence of a relationship between the symptoms of depression, anxiety and fear of disease progression was also indicated in addition to negative associations between quality of life and these variables. Studies focused on assessing domains such as fear of disease progression allow for a deeper understanding of the group of cancer survivors and adapt the interventions and services provided to their needs.
