Abstract(s)
microagressões, o stress percecionado e a autoestima.
No
Literature has proved microaggressions have a negative significant impact in LGBTQIA+ community’s mental health. Considering this impact and the lack of investigation on this theme, the objective of this study is assessing microaggressions’ impact on perceive stress and self-esteem’ levels on LGBTQIA+ community. The sample of this cross-sectional study consist of 133 Portuguese individuals with ages in between 18 and 51. The data collection protocol consisted of a sociodemographic questionnaire and instruments “Gender and Sexual Minorities Microaggression Scale”, “Perceived Stress Scale” and “Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale”. The results suggest a positive correlation about microaggressions’ impact on perceived stress and self-esteem. The results also indicate that, in the gender variable, there are statistically significant influences regarding microaggressions and perceived stress, unlike self-esteem. However, with the sexual orientation variable, the results show that there are statistically significant differences only in microaggressions, since in the results of perceived stress and self-esteem there were no differences. With these results, it was possible to conclude that microaggressions can have a significant impact on sexual minorities in the Portuguese population, being necessary to do more research in this theme, to provide better assistance to the community.
