Abstract(s)
Bairro das Nogueiras is inserted in the parish of Teixoso, in the municipality of Covilhã. Built in 2002, in a peripheral area of the parish and the city itself, it has a total of 134 units intended for municipal social housing. The community that lives there faces several problems of economic and social exclusion and demands the creation of quality public spaces for collective living. With a theoretical-practical approach, this investigation in architecture aims to apply a design experience related to “playing” that aims to strengthen ties between the community of Bairro das Nogueiras. From what was studied, this project experience aims to outline a basis for possible future applications, for example a more developed project. Currently, new technologies hold a great weight in children's lives. This factor leads them to remain indoors most of the time, a problem that has worsened with the COVID-19 pandemic. It is quite consensual that playing in the public space is beneficial, as it favors the motor development of the individual and his relationship with the environment in which he lives. From this perspective, the intention is to design a set of playful spaces in Bairro das Nogueiras, where children can experience and expand their imagination. For this, the participation of children, through a laboratory carried out at the intervention site, generated moments of learning, inclusion and interaction among the community. It is therefore hoped that the influence of children in the design of these spaces will enable a healthier, safer environment and, not least: designed with the user's point of view.
