Abstract(s)
Anteriormente, a
The practice of regular physical activity is essential for health and well-being, providing benefits across the entire spectrum of women's health. Previously, the practice of physical exercise during pregnancy was considered harmful to fetal development, but currently it is recommended to most pregnant women, due to its benefits for maternal health, childbirth and child health. For the elaboration of this review, a bibliographic search was carried out in the search engines PubMed, Google Scholar and Elseveir. The aim of this dissertation is to carry out a comprehensive and updated literature review on the effects of physical activity on pregnancy and delivery. Physical exercise during pregnancy has been associated with the prevention and control of several disorders, such as gestational diabetes, gestational hypertension and preeclampsia, excessive weight gain, urinary incontinence and peripartum depression. Additionally, it reduces the risk of preterm, prolonged and cesarean delivery, the need for instrumented delivery and large-for-gestational-age newborns. As a future perspective, the creation and validation of an easily reproducible physical exercise program that could be universally addressed to pregnant women is considered important.
