| dc.description.abstract | A paisagem rural de Sicó, reflexo das interações entre o ser humano e o meio natural ao longo do tempo, manifesta significados culturais, históricos e sociais que salvaguardam o caráter próprio da sua estrutura vernacular. No entanto, atualmente, verificam-se grandes desafios, nomeadamente o despovoamento, o abandono agrícola, bem como a degradação do património arquitetónico e ambiental, contribuindo para uma fraca identidade do lugar. Não obstante, observa-se uma crescente desvalorização da paisagem devido a uma insuficiente gestão territorial, política, social e de recursos, que anuncia uma ameaça à singularidade das suas malhas rurais. Neste contexto, recorre-se ao estudo da relação de reciprocidade entre as aldeias de Ereiras e de Poios, pertencentes à freguesia de Redinha, Pombal, vistas como realidades sociais distintas, mas representativas da diversidade de dinâmicas sociais e territoriais desta paisagem. Enquanto na leitura da estrutura de Ereiras sobressai a urgência de promover o património edificado face ao sistemático abandono, o tecido rural de Poios ilustra o papel do turismo, quando bem articulado às especificidades da população, como instrumento de resiliência comunitária. As leituras únicas de cada povoamento permitem delinear princípios transversais de intervenção que conciliem as práticas vernaculares com as necessidades da comunidade, garantindo a coesão do tecido rural e a continuidade da identidade do lugar. A reativação de comunidades emerge, deste modo, como uma resposta estratégica para mitigar os efeitos do sistemático abandono e, acima de tudo, promover territórios firmes e participativos, onde a prevenção do património, a leitura da paisagem e a valorização social se articulam com as novas dinâmicas sociais. Para tal, a arquitetura assume-se como disciplina capaz de transformar os espaços comunitários em lugares de coesão social, através de uma prática consciente que, unida com a perspetiva da comunidade, se revela crucial para compreender a vitalidade social e desenvolver medidas que salvaguardem o futuro da paisagem rural de Sicó. | por |
| dc.description.abstract | The rural landscape of Sicó, shaped by the enduring interaction between human activity and the natural environment, embodies cultural, historical, and social values that preserve the distinctive character of its vernacular structure. However, this landscape now faces major challenges, namely depopulation, agricultural abandonment, and the deterioration of architectural and environmental heritage, factors that have contributed to an erosion of local identity. Furthermore, the landscape’s value is increasingly undermined by inadequate territorial, political, social, and resource management, posing a threat to the uniqueness of its rural fabric. Within this context, this research examines the reciprocal relationship between the villages of Ereiras and Poios, located in the parish of Redinha, Pombal. Although socially distinct, these villages represent the diverse of social and territorial dynamics that characterize the Sicó region. While the analysis of Ereiras reveals the urgent need to promote built heritage in the face of systematic abandonment, the rural fabric of Poios illustrates how tourism, when aligned with local specificities, can serve as a tool for community resilience. The distinct readings of each settlement enables the formulation of overarching principles for intervention that reconcile vernacular practices with community needs, ensuring the cohesion of the rural fabric and the continuity of local identity. The reactivation of communities thus emerges as a strategic response to mitigate the effects of ongoing abandonment and, above all, to foster engaged and resilient territories where heritage preservation, landscape interpretation, and social value intersect with new social dynamics. Within this framework, architecture is understood as a discipline capable of transforming community spaces into places of social cohesion, through mindful practice that, when aligned with the community’s perspective, becomes fundamental to understanding social vitality and developing strategies to safeguard the future of Sicó’s rural landscape. | eng |
