O presente relatório de estágio para obtenção do grau de Mestre em Relações
Internacionais foi elaborado com o tema “Fundos Europeus Estruturais e de
Investimento: Estudo do Projeto do Parque Natural do Tejo Internacional”. Reflete os
meses que foram passados em contexto de estágio curricular na Câmara Municipal de
Castelo Branco, na Unidade de Planeamento, Promoção e Desenvolvimento
Económico.
Os fundos citados acima são uma das ferramentas usadas pela União Europeia para
auxiliar a financiar os projetos dos diversos Estados-membro da organização. Segundo
a página web da Comissão Europeia, mais de metade das verbas da União Europeia são
canalizadas através destes mesmos fundos.
O município de Castelo Branco, situado na região da Beira Baixa, tem lidado com o
envelhecimento da sua população e com a saída de jovens para centros urbanos de
maiores dimensões, como Porto e Lisboa. Perante estes constrangimentos, torna-se
imperativa a presença de projetos que modernizem e deem outra projeção à região, e é
nesse âmbito que se insere o Projeto do Parque Natural do Tejo Internacional, realizado
juntamente com outros municípios da Raya.
Com este Relatório de Estágio pretende-se descrever e examinar as atividades
relevantes desenvolvidas no estágio e refletir sobre o papel das relações internacionais
na governação local.
The present paper is to obtain the master’s degree in International Relations, and it was elaborated with the title “European Structural and Investment Funds: Study of the Project for the Natural Park of the International Tejo”. It reflects the months spent in a curricular internship in the Town Hall in Castelo Branco. The aforementioned funds are one of the tools more commonly used by the European Union to help fund the projects of the member states in the organization. According to the website of the European Commission, more than half of the European Union’s capital is channeled through these funds. The city of Castelo Branco, located in the Beira Baixa, has been dealing with the aging of its population and with the departure of young adults to bigger urban centers, like Lisbon and Porto. With regards to this, the presence of projects that modernize the region becomes imperative, and it is in that aspect that the Project for the Natural Park of the International Tejo applies. This Internship Report intends to describe and examine the relevant activities developed in the internship and reflect on the role of international relations in local governance.
