Com esta dissertação pretende-se elaborar uma proposta de reabilitação do mercado
municipal de Amarante. Este mercado Ʃ da autoria do arquiteto JanuƔrio Godinho de
Almeida, projetado em 1965 e situa-se na margem do rio TĆ¢mega. Para a
contextualização da proposta que se apresenta é importante a compreensão da obra do
arquiteto JanuÔrio Godinho, por um lado, e a compreensão da cidade de Amarante, por
outro. Sobretudo, Ć© importante a anĆ”lise do seu centro histórico, assim como os edifĆcios
de destaque que circundam este edifĆcio, de modo a poder estabelecer relaƧƵes e retirar
conclusƵes que permitam uma mais apurada e eficiente proposta. Este mercado merece
especial atenção porque é uma mais-valia para a cidade, salientando-se a sua relação com
o seu centro. Porém, apesar de ser um marco arquitetónico de Amarante, tem-se
verificado alguns sinais de desgaste e abandono, devido à criação de outros pontos de
atração. Os fatores principais que levaram a situação em que o mercado se encontra nos
dias de hoje foram principalmente a falta de estacionamento e a falta de um espaƧo
amigƔvel que seja interessante para os Amarantinos, sobretudo para as faixas etƔrias
mais jovens, tirando a rigidez de que este lugar Ć© vĆtima e dinamizando-o de maneira a
dar-lhe a vida e a importância devida de um lugar icónico como este. Deste modo,
pretende-se com esta proposta reabilitar este equipamento, de valor histórico-cultural,
mas tambĆ©m arquitetónico, de modo a combater o abandono e a ser-lhe restituĆda a sua
identidade como espaço de encontro e convivência social.
With this dissertation, it is aimed to elaborate a proposal of rehabilitation of the Amaranteās Municipal Market. This market was designed by the architect JanuĆ”rio Godinho de Almeida in 1965 and is located at the margin of the TĆ¢mega river. For contextualization of this proposal that Iām presenting, it is important the understanding of the architect JanuĆ”rio Godinho work, in one side, and the understanding of the city of Amarante, in the other side. Most of all, it is important the analysis of the cityās historical center, as well as the featured buildings that surround this building, so we may establish relations and draw conclusions that allow me to make a more accurate and efficient proposal. This market deserves special attention because it is one of the most valuable assets to the city, standing out his relation with the city center. Although, in spite of being an architectural icon of Amarante, it has been noticed some signs of degradation and abandonment because of the creation of other attraction points. The main factors that led to the current situation that the market finds itself right now was mainly the lack of parking spots and the lack of a friendly space with interest for the citizens, especially for younger age groups, taking away the rigidity thatās this place is victim and making it dynamic in order to give it the life and importance due of an iconic place like this one. In this way, this proposal intends to rehabilitate this equipment, of historical-cultural, but also architectural value, in order to combat abandonment and to restore its identity as a space for meeting and social coexistence.
