Abstract(s)
This paper systematically reviews the literature on methods in virtual entrepreneurship education, providing insight into the state of research and outlining a future research agenda. Although the areas of entrepreneurship education and virtual entrepreneurship are receiving increasing attention, research on the methods of virtual entrepreneurship teaching presents a research opportunity. Two hundred and thirty-five articles were extracted from Scopus, and their content was analyzed for the article selection process. Finally, ninety-six articles dealing with methods of virtual teaching for entrepreneurship were analyzed by employing content and bibliometric analysis supported by the R Software (Bibliometrix package). The research question to be answered is: What is the status quo of research on methods in virtual entrepreneurship education? The results show that the literature on the topic is still scarce and scattered. In the follow-up, the content analysis provides the categorization of five lines of research: 1) Netrepreneur, 2) Academic MOOCs and CLabs, 3) Virtual simulation games, 4) Distance learning/e-learning, and 5) Mobile Internet/Cloud computing. In sum, this study contributes to understanding the research status quo. Thus, it can support policymakers, academics, and researchers to become categorically acquainted with the different methods, tools, and approaches of virtual teaching for entrepreneurship. Also, offering areas for future research according to the categorization of the existing lines. Finally, paving the way for upcoming research.
