Abstract(s)
melhorando a autoestima e autonomia.
futura.
Sport is seen as therapy for those with some kind of disability and improves their quality of life, social relationships, both inside and outside the sporting context, inclusion and safety in society without prejudice from others, and improves their self-esteem and autonomy. Athletes with disabilities need extra motivation to practice sport so that they can develop more both socially and cognitively, thus promoting their quality of life. Assessment and control in swimming has become a fundamental factor in determining a swimmer's sporting performance, considering different factors: biomechanical, psychological, genetic, bioenergetic and contextual. All these factors are in synergy with the swimmer's performance. Although the results were inconclusive, it was possible to obtain the necessary tools for adjusting the planning of the current season, as well as for planning the future one. The main objective of this internship is to evaluate and monitor a swimmer with Down syndrome over a period of 18 weeks, until the World Championships, in order to provide results to the head coach and thus improve the planning of the current season and/or have tools to use in the following season.
