tema atual.

de tempos livres
e o lazer
contribuem para a satisfação
com a
Qualidade de Vida

Branco.

utilizada a versão portuguesa
adaptada
do WHOQOL

Brief Version of
World Health Organization Quality Of Life)
, instrumento d

)
.
pessoas idosas, principalmente no domínio físico.

-
se em todos os domínios (geral,
ambiental, físico, social e psicológico) uma qualidade de vida satisfatória
,
com uma melhoria
nos indicadores dos indivíduos
que ocupam os seus tempos livres.
À medida que se envelhece
aumenta a pred
ominância de doenças e de perda de vitalidade física
, socia
l e psicológica
.
Para
atenuar esse problema
é necessário que o idoso perma
neça ativo, ocupando os seus
tempos livres da melhor forma
possível
para conseguir um envelhecimento bem
-
sucedido.

,
que
se os idosos envelhecerem
com autonomia e independência, a sua
qualidade de vida pode minorar os efeitos de deletério d
o processo de envelhecimento,
próprio de cada individuo.
The aging of population and the increasing life expectancy is a reality and a current theme. Thus it is crucial to u nderstand how the elderly spend their free time, if they have any occupation and, thus, assess to their quality of life. This dissertation aims to investigate if the occupation of free time and leisure contribute to the satisfaction of quality of life (QoL ) of the elderly in the Castelo Branco municipality. It was used the Portuguese version adapted from the WHOQOL - BREF ( Brief Version of World Health Organization Quality Of Life ) instrument for assessing the quality of life, developed by WHO. The study pa rticipants were 176 individuals, 64% were women and 36% men which reveals some inequality in the distribution of gender. The sample consisted mostly of individuals between 66 and 75 years (54%), the minimum age was 52 years and maximum 91 years old. The st udy revealed that leisure activities have influence on the quality of life of older people, particularly in the physical domain. It was observed in all areas (general, environmental, physical, social and psychological) satisfactory quality of life, with an improvement in those of the individuals who occupy their leisure time. As people get older increases the prevalence of diseases and physical, social and psychological losses. This to minimise this it is necessary that the elderly remain active, occupying their free time in the best way possible to achieve successful aging. We conclude that , if the elderly g et old with autonomy and independence, their quality of life can alleviate the deleteriou s effects of the aging process, specific to each individual.
