Abstract(s)
This report is the result of the experience gained during an internship at Rádio Urbana FM, located in the city of Castelo Branco. The main objective is to present the learning acquired over three months (from March 1 to May 31), in addition to analyzing the impact of audiences on the formulation of programming schedules for regional and local radio stations, with Rádio Urbana FM as the object of study. Firstly, a theoretical framework is provided that includes the contextualization of the emergence of radio, both globally and nationally, with a special focus on the history of pirate, regional and local radio stations, based on a review of the literature. In addition, particular attention is paid to the structure of radio programming, explaining its functioning and analyzing the specific characteristics of programming aimed at regional and local radio stations. Subsequently, the report will include a brief characterization of the host institution, highlighting the activities carried out during the curricular internship and the environment in which these were developed. In the final phase, the empirical study will be presented, the objective of which is to understand the process of creating a programming grid on a regional radio, as well as the criteria used in this process. To this end, interviews were carried out with employees of Urbana FM radio, aiming to understand the structure of the programming schedules. Additionally, in order to evaluate audience satisfaction, a survey was carried out among the local population, as well as another carried out on the Facebook platform, more precisely in groups related to municipalities in the district of Castelo Branco. To further enrich the investigation, the analysis of another regional radio will also be considered, Rádio Diana FM, located in Évora, where an interview was conducted with the person responsible for programming. Therefore, the objective is to make a comparison between the two regional radio stations, understand the differences and identify the programming chosen for the respective populations.
