Abstract(s)
Alfred Reginald Allen sofreram.
Background This report is the result of a research on Spinal Cord Injuries (SCI), since Alfred Reginald Allen’s postulates, from 1909 to 1911, who described the primary and secondary mechanisms of the spinal cord injury, till nowadays. Materials and Methods The materials and methods used were books and magazines of the specialty, as well as the research of articles on PubMed, Medline and Emedicine. Conclusion In time, few were the changes that Alfred Reginald Allen’s initial concepts experienced. However, new approaches have become strong possibilities of changing this, as they stress the role of the remaining structures, around the spinal cord, which might have a crucial function of healing the injured.
