Abstract(s)
Versão Breve (Other As Shamer Scale for Adolescents – Brief Version [OASB – A];
(Pinto- Gouveia, Cunha, Matos, & Gilbert, 2013), Escala de Autodeterminação (SDS,
agora designada PCASS) (Silva, Vieira, Coutinho, Minderico, Matos, Sardinha, 2010) e
In this study, the relationship between external shame, self-determination and satisfaction with life in adolescents aged between 12 and 18 years was empirically tested. Specific goals were defined: to know the levels of external shame, selfdetermination and satisfaction with life in this sample; to verify the relationship between external shame and satisfaction with life and between self-determination and satisfaction with life; to analyze the impact of external shame and self-determination on life satisfaction. The data was collected in two training schools and in a social inclusion project in inland areas. Through a survey sociodemographic questionnaire, External Shame Scale for Adolescents - Short Version [Other As Shamer Scale for Adolescents - Brief Version [OASB - A]; Pinto- Gouveia, Cunha, Matos, & Gilbert, 2013), Self-Determination Scale (SDS, currently termed PCASS) (Silva, Vieira, Coutinho, Minderico, Matos, Sardinha, 2010) and Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) (Simões, 1992)], administered to 103 adolescents, the study explored the relationship between external shame, selfdetermination and life satisfaction. Conversely to what was expected, external shame and self-determination did not predict life satisfaction.
