Abstract(s)
O tema da requalificação, muito em voga nestes tempos, serve de solução a muitas zonas históricas esquecidas que não se desvaneceram com o passar dos anos, constituindo-se como um monumento que outrora fora parte ativa de um espaço público.
O caso em análise é o da Ponte dos Sete Arcos, ou vulgarmente conhecida por Ponte das Sete Bocas, localizada numa zona chamada Ponte Velha, freguesia do Faial, o que dá a entender que se trata de uma construção que modela todo o local. Assim, a área escolhida para ser requalificada é parte de uma das extremidades da ponte, que infelizmente já não existe. Património local ou até regional, a parte resistente está intacta com apenas a introdução de algum mobiliário urbano. Mas a extremidade oposta permanece em olvido, fazendo-se constituir por terreno florestal ocupado por construções inutilizadas. Toda essa zona foi marcada por uma obra subdividida a dois tempos, a antiga ponte e a nova ponte. A indução da nova ponte torna o Faial num lugar de avanço construtivo, com condições de deslocação facilitadas. Confere continuidade a uma das mais importantes artérias do norte, pois não é coincidência que ali foi criado um conjunto de espaços abertos em circuito. A importância, função e simbolismo que este elemento emana, tornam o local num lugar único turístico e a prova de que não é só a natureza que consegue esculpir por entre rochedos, veredas trilhos e carreteiros. O Homem também já provou que consegue esculpir espaços de grande vislumbre nestas circunstâncias.
The theme of requalification is in vogue at the moment, is the solution for many forgotten places with historical values without been destroyed by the time, it constituting like a monument than in the past was an active part into a public space. At this rate, the study is about a bridge, the Seven Arch’s bridge, located in a zone called Old Bridge in Faial parish, this infrastructure it is understood like a construction that shapes the whole site. The chosen area for requalification is one end of the bridge, unfortunately did not exist. The resistant part it is intact and has been considered a local heritage with some new street furniture. The another end it is a forgotten place composed by forest area with unused buildings. All this area was marked by subdivided works in two stages, the old bridge and the new bridge. The induction on the new bridge make Faial in a place with constructive advances and easy mobility. Gives continuity one of the most important road in the north island, it is no coincidence that there has been created a set of circuit spaces. The importance, function and symbolism that element emanates make the place into a landscape and prove that nature can carve by the rocks, paths, tracks and carters. The man also can sculpt a true landscape.
