Abstract(s)
efeitos do JI.
feeding), e o ADF (alternate day fasting), principalmente em adultos, tendo
This study combines a biliometric analysis and a systematic literature review about intermittent fasting (IF) in the health area, aiming to identify the trends of this research area in the last 20 years. Applying the keywords “intermittent”, “fast” and “health”, 178 studies were examined indexed on the Web of Science database between 2002 and 2021. Applying bibliometric indicators, an analysis was carried out regarding the main research contents in this field: the effects. The results of this study suggest that, in the last 20 years, the scientific community that focuses on the investigation of the effects of IF in the health area, has dedicated most of its attention to the study of two IF regimens — the TRF (time restricted feeding), and ADF (alternate day fasting), mainly in adults, in view of the rapid fruiting effects. Therefore, the IF is such a benefical tool for weight loss, but also for the control and mitigation of numerous chronic diseases, whose study has been oriented towards the beneficial effects at the level of cardiovascular markers and lipid profile in the last 2 years. Specifically, in the last 2 years publications are more focused on its effects on the microvascular complications of diabetes and at immunological and cognitive functions.
