A gestão de stocks é um processo fulcral em qualquer organização, uma gestão inadequada e ineficaz dos stocks pode ser prejudicial para a gestão global da organização.
Neste contexto, a presente investigação tem como objetivo central investigar o impacto das tecnologias de informação na gestão de stocks dentro organizações. Além de averiguar de que modo o uso de tecnologias aliadas à gestão de stocks tornam mais eficaz o controlo dos stocks, auxiliam no processo de tomada de decisão e contribuem na redução de custos nas unidades hoteleiras inseridas na região da Comunidade Intermunicipal das Beiras e Serra da Estrela (CIM-BSE).
O caso de estudo múltiplo foi a metodologia adotada para estudar dez estabelecimentos hoteleiros, inseridos na Comunidade Intermunicipal Beiras e Serra Da Estrela. A análise da informação demonstra as diferentes filosofias de cada estabelecimento em relação: á aposta em tecnologias de informação, à importância dada à gestão de stocks e à perceção da relevância destas tecnologias aliadas à gestão de stocks dentro da organização.
Desta investigação, não obstante as dificuldades verificadas, na sua maioria financeiras e a falta de mão-de-obra qualificada, as empresas pertencentes ao sector hoteleiro da Comunidade Intermunicipal Beiras e Serra da Estrela, consideram que as tecnologias de informação têm um papel importante na gestão de stocks e esta revela-se determinante para o sucesso da sua atividade. Assim, pode perceber-se que existe a necessidade dos estabelecimentos hoteleiros procederem a uma aposta mais forte e constante nas tecnologias de informação.
Por fim são identificadas as limitações do estudo e possíveis linhas futuras de investigação.
The stocks management is a crunch process in any organization. An inadequate and inefficient stocks management can be harmful to the overall management of the organization. In this context, the present investigation has as main goal investigate the impact of the information technologies in the stocks management within organizations. Furthermore, verifying how the use of technologies applied to the stocks management makes more efficient the stocks control, help in the decision-making process and contribute to reduce costs in the hotel units placed in the region of Comunidade Intermucipal Beiras e Serra da Estrela (CIM-BSE). The multiple case study was the methodology adopted to study in ten hotel establishments, placed in the Comunidade Interminucipal Beiras e Serra da Estrela. The information analysis shows the different philosophies of each establishment regarding: of the investment in information technologies; of the importance given to the stocks management; and, the perception of the importance of information technologies applied to the stocks management within organization; From this investigation resulted, although we find several difficulties, these are mostly financial and the lack of a skilled workforce. The enterprises of the Hotel sector in the Comunidade Intermuncipal Beiras e Serra da Estrela consider that information technologies have an important role in the stocks management. The stocks management assumes a crucial role for the success of the activity. So it is possible to understand there is the necessity of the establishments carry out a stronger and constant investment in information technologies. Lastly, there are identified the study limitations and possibles future lines of research.
