Abstract(s)
Commercial aviation has witnessed an exponential growth in the number of flights and passengers carried in past years. On the other hand, the accident rate involving aircrafts has never been so low. This is mainly due to regulatory improvements such as an introduction of Safety Management Systems (SMS) in the various branches of the aeronautical sector, together with the technological development witnessed in the last decades. In this context, this dissertation addresses the risk assessment at a several airports operated by euroAtlantic Airways, in order to identify hazards, analyze their probability and severity, classify the operational risks, and define their respective risk mitigation measures. From this analysis, we conclude that airports on the African continent have the highest levels of risk due to the fact that they do not meet certain requirements for the operation. The analysis of the airports located in the European and American continent indicates that the level of operation risk is mostly found in the low and medium scales for aircraft operated by euroAtlantic. The airport hazard log book was also developed to guide future risk assessments.
