Abstract(s)
ilustradores Portugueses seleccionados., nomeadamente, Duma, Pedro Alves,
Rui Ricardo, e Sofia Dias

The present dissertation intends to confront the different types of representations of the feminine figure through a detailed analysis of the four Portuguese illustrators selected, namely, Duma, Pedro Alves, Rui Ricardo and Sofia Dias. With these authors, we intend to understand to what extent are their creations related to the stereotypes of the modern woman’s image in vogue in many different spheres: a beautiful, young and attractive woman. We also intend to know to what purposes are those representations about the woman created. It also interests us to recognise the way these illustrations become known, to know about the creative aspects of these images and the main characteristics of the techniques, programmes and motivations used for the elaboration of their works as well as the public they are addressed to. To get a closer and more adequate view of the work of these illustrators, it was, made an interview to each of them so that it would be possible to observe and compare the given answers concerning their own works, careers and ideas about the woman’s representation.
