Abstract(s)
Esta dissertação tem como objectivo apresentar a proposta de um projecto de requalificação
de um edifício industrial localizado na área envolvente da ribeira da Carpinteira na cidade da
Covilhã, Portugal. Tem-se como objectivo reavivar esta zona da cidade, dando uma nova
função aos edifícios industriais.
Na Covilhã encontram-se inúmeros edifícios deste tipo que foram abandonados com o passar
do tempo e que devem ser aproveitados e requalificados, dando espaço a outros programas
que não os iniciais. A cidade está a crescer tem vindo a crescer para o vale da Cova da Beira,
deixando assim a encosta da Serra da Estrela. A sua zona histórica encontra-se cada vez
menos dinâmica e mais despovoada devido à deslocação das suas gentes para o vale.
Requalificando estes edifícios de maneira a acolherem actividades de carácter público e que
poderiam tornar-se pontos de atracção para a zona antiga da cidade, reabilitando a mesma,
torna-se uma solução. A intenção do projecto é requalificar o edifício da Fábrica Velha,
antiga fábrica de lanifícios, de forma a integrar um núcleo de actividades relacionadas com
arte e cultura, pensado para receber eventos de música, exposições, teatro, cinema, moda.
Deste modo, estes edifícios industriais serão sobreviventes do tempo perpetuando a sua
vivência.
A importância de fazer um projecto no património industrial pode ser vista como um
fundamento para novas políticas de um região ou cidade, apostando na
requalificação/revitalização. A requalificação destes espaços contribui para uma regeneração
urbana e cultural e pensar em espaços de criação e acolhimento artístico de modo a conferir
uma nova utilização a estes edifícios cria um desenvolvimento turístico. Toma-se, também,
consciência sobre o valor destes locais, das paisagens que os envolvem e destes edifícios que
caíram em desuso.
This dissertation has the objective to proposal of a project to requalify an industrial building, which is situated near the Carpinteira river, Covilhã. In Covilhã, we can find innumerous buildings of this kind, which with the passing of time, were abandoned. Due to these unfortunate circumstances, they must be requalified, giving way to new activities. The city has become increasingly less dynamitic and depopulated. By requalifying and rehabilitating these buildings to give way to activities for the public, they become positive and attractive landmarks in the older side of town. The main objective of this project is to requalify the Fábrica Velha building, integrating a core of activities related with culture and art. Yielding opportunities to receive musical events, expositions, theater, cinema and fashion. Having gone from being a survivor of its time to being a lasting presence in the cities life. The importance of elaborating a project for the industrial heritage can be seen as fundamental for new politicians of a region or city, betting strongly on the requalification/revitalization. The requalification of these spaces contributes to a new urban and cultural regeneration. With the requalification of this building where art can be created and welcomed, giving in to the possibility of an impacto n the touristic development. Understanding the value of these buildings due to their location and urban scenery.
