Abstract(s)
influencia negativamente a satisfação profissional.
e a satisfação profissional.
Violence in the workplace has been a major concern among international organizations due to the increase of violence related episodes regarding healthcare workers, especially against nurses who present higher rates of aggression when compared to other professionals. Acknowledging the importance and occupational risks to which these workers are daily exposed to, this investigation aims to analyze to what extent occupational violence against nurses, moderated by the leadership skills of their direct manager, negatively influences job satisfaction. A quantitative, descriptive-correlational and cross-sectional study was carried out. It was opted for a type of non-probabilistic snowball sampling, in a sample of 107 nurses who hadbeen working in the emergency department for at least one year. The results showed the presence of violent episodes, in the three types of violence studied, with a predominance of behaviors framed in psychological aggression. As for job satisfaction, nurses expressed levels of dissatisfaction, particularly with career progression, salary and benefits. Regarding the perception of the leadership skills of the nurse manager, the skills of the roles framed in the model of rational goals showed a better performance. The influence of violence on nurses' professional satisfaction is not moderated by the leadership skills of the nurse manager, since no relationship was found between these constructs. However, a relationship was found between leadership skills and job satisfaction.
