| dc.description.abstract | In the first two centuries of the development of modern science, in particular in the areas of biology, medicine and physical anthropology, “women” were considered an interesting study object, since they deviated from the norm, which was the male, and their inferiority to men was considered to be scientifically demonstrable, and thus a justification for their second-class position in society. These prejudices also meant that women encountered many obstacles if they wanted to have access to the scientific community; moreover, women who managed to get access have been counteracted in all sorts of ways. This text presents the ideas of some authors about this complex theme, as well as some data on the lives of pioneering female scientists. | pt_PT |
